The Xinhai switch differs from other HMX switches in several important ways. Firstly, the top housing is made from PA12, a softer material than the more common PA66 or PA2. This design choice provides a less sharp and less pronounced top-out sound. Additionally, the bottom housing is made from modified nylon, a standard choice among HMX switches. Notably, the housing materials used in Xinhai are the same as those in the HMX Macchiato; the main difference between the two switches lies in the stem materials. While Macchiato uses a POK stem that produces a 'thocky' mid-range sound, Xinhai uses a POM stem that generates a clearer and higher-pitched bottom-out sound.
Furthermore, Xinhai uses a unique factory lubing technique. This method involves applying a greater amount of lubricant to the leaf spring and modifying the application process to ensure a more even distribution of the lubricant.
