Our Story
Istanbul — Saint Benoit
Ali & Melih
A friendship born in the corridors of Saint Benoit, in the heart of Istanbul. From high school to today, through thick and thin, side by side at every step. An unbreakable bond that only grew stronger with time.
Different Paths
An ocean apart, united by passion
Melih stayed in Istanbul. Studied law, built departments in startups, engineered systems from the ground up. Ali crossed the ocean — earned his business degree in the US, created his own jewelry design brand. Two different worlds, the same relentless drive.
2020 — The Pandemic
"Let's build a keyboard brand in Turkey."
During those locked-down days when the world stood still, Melih called Ali. One sentence was all it took. Both had been deep in the mechanical keyboard hobby for years. It was time to turn that passion into something real.
First Steps
We built our own keyboard
Case, PCB, custom keycaps — they designed and manufactured a keyboard from scratch. Technically, it was a success. But market conditions and cost realities pointed toward a different path. The real win, however, was hiding somewhere else entirely.
The Turning Point
The community found us
Through the manufacturing journey, strong relationships were forged with the biggest names in the scene. Components, keyboards, desk setup gear — importing began. The community grew. And without even realizing it, Rationalkeys was born.
